Get connected and start scanning! The interface cable works on all General Motors OBDI/ALDL cars and trucks that use either a 160 or 8192 baudrate datastream (approx. Does anyone have a copy of freescan or anything that will read the 8192 baud OBD1 ALDL data stream? It seems all the links for this stuff is dead. Once again I'm way out of date. Keith 76 Royale. Re: [GMCMH-EFI] ALDL software? Randy, 3/9/12 9:43 PM. Keith, I didn't see a reply to your post.

I've been out of the loop for a while now (I did an electrical apprenticeship for the last 4 years) so i'm wondering what is the best way to go for a cheap and reliable scan tool for Holden and other common cars. I've checked out the ELM327 and ALDL at envyouscustoms.com and they seem to have all of the Holden stuff covered within 4 programs. The Body Diagnostics is only offered as a subscription service, which is quite expensive at $350 per year. Are there any better options? I also saw this one - It seems to do airbag as well as engine and transmission for only $70 delivered and they've sold 294 of them so I reckon they must be OK.

I don't want to reprogram anything, just read and clear current and history codes and check live data parameters etc. I've used Tech1, Tech2 and GDS extensively over the years I worked at Holden, but I don't want to fork out the money to get those systems. Any help greatly appreciated, please reply here or send me a PM. I use the ebay style ALDL cable and its works fine its a little finnicky to get working but when you do it works well. Its paid for itself over and over again with just being able to switch off airbag lights (for cars that need to be examined for licencing) you can also use it to reprogram the ecu as well.

(used it to remove BCM Immobiliser software) so the ecus from Vt-Vy commodes can be used in engine conversions. The ELM 327 devices are available on ebay as well also work fine I like this one as my phone is used as the scanner.(just download a app for iphone or android). I've loaned a mates D900 like this one - and it works a hell of a lot faster and is more accurate than the ELM327 with the Full version of EOBD Facile software. I was going to buy the USB version and give it a try to see if it's any better, as i'll use it with a laptop.
